Merc,s did suffer issues but they were short term. I wont judge them on 3 years of mistakes in 100 years of production. Some cars were built on a time schedule and this led to some issues on cars between 2002-2005 but now its back to good old teutonic engineering. Anyways jeepgirl, as i said before and one more poster testified driving through water, the ML is still heaps better than any X5.You wont miss any luxuries either.

interestingly this period (2002-2005) is smack in the middle of when they were merged with Chrysler.

You spend alot of money buying these cars because they are supposed to be great and then they let you down.
that is nothing to judge a brand by as every make of vehicle has plenty of cars that get towed back to the dealer on tow trucks even the likes of porsche , ferrari , lamborghini hell in one of the 4wd of the year tests
they had to tow a crd jk out with a landrover cause it wouldnt run but
i bet no one from here would call the jk a pos and buy a defender instead .

mercedes are one of the best built most reputable manufactures in the world
with the amount of mercs still on the road from the 70s,80s and early 90s is testament to that .
i do know people that own new mercs s class and e class that are only 2 yrs old and have never had
an issue with them they are not the cheapest cars to own but definately not the worst .

range rover is a nother prestige marque that is plagued with rumors of reliability issues but the people i know that have range rover sports and range rover vogues never seem to have an issue .

just reading the jk section would make me think they are one of the biggest lemons on the road maybe even more so than the ea falcon was .

If one was available, and my budget would allow, I'd have a Lambo 4x4 in the garage tomorrow. They were ahead of their time like the Miura was.......
