Do you think a fibreglass bar with a hidden alloy mounting plate behind for a winch would meet ADR's?
I do a lot of specialised foam sandwich and carbon fibreglass work on boats and I could easily make a replica bar the same as the Gomad one. It would be extremely strong and robust, stronger than the standard plastic bumper bar but not as strong as steel. It would collapse to trigger the airbags.
I wouldn't use carbon fibre because it's too brittle. I'd use a combination of high tech laid unidirectional and double bias glass laid on PVC foam. This combo is more durable and has better recoil in an impact. However this wouldn't be a mass produce item as it's too expensive in labour time but for my own car who cares, its fun and save dollars
Food for thought.

All JJ bullbars are ADR compliant and JJ is a airbag approve company. Check their website.
In regards to the portable winch, QT told me it should comply with ADR62 (which is wrong, becuase ADR62 exclude front attachment) I did talk to a Queensland Modification Approve Person and he is of the opinion that a crash test will be required.

My understanding is that they comply because it's alloy.

Correction, JJ fitted the bullbar not Westside. Westside fitted the plates on the front, but by doing so, they covered my recovery points. Redlands 4WD is currently look at installing (designing) recovery point for me.
And yes, I am happy with my bullbar, a winch will be nice but nor essential. Most of my 4wd driving is hunting related.

Great link Wanderer. The winch bar without the barwork around the lights will be the best. You'll stay within the 1m rule without the bar work.
