Na-this will not happen, our generator can deliver a massive amount of current. Usually around 110A to 150A. And if the alternator is fully packed- it's getting freakin' hot. Try it after starting the engine...
If you have an AGM battery it is simply the same. I did measure 100A peak. Thats fine and good. Even with a winch.
Lithium batteries do a have a limiter built in. Otherwise you could create a short, when connected to another battery.
Same like connecting a discharged battery to a full battery- they try to equalise, if not separated by diodes. That's the purpose of a diode - to separate, but not to limit. The fancy devices are all good. But actually they do the same.
Remember, Lithium batteries were not intended for use in the automotive world, due to their limitations in current delivery. They have (at the moment) not the ability to deliver starting currents (180-200A!) They do have their place as a supply battery. The Duty and Discharge cycles are massive compared with all other batteries.

Luckily we are dealing with DC.
Funny thing is that I don‘t need „Victron“ to tell me- that‘s commonly known knowledge „not to disconnect batteries“ in an alternator arrangement- you will blow your Alternator also with disconnected acid batteries. No „Lithium management“necessary.
Guess why Lithium is always sold as supply battery

Thanks for asking mud_slut!

The XJ blew up when accelerating at a traffic light. Con rod number 3 wanted to have a peep into the fresh air. Took me a while to get a new block. I‘m dealing with underbody corrosion at the moment.

I also have to redesign the electrical layout - adding a winch with massive draw is not an easy task. Guess I will use smaller dual, parallel aux batteries to cut down the massive current draw. Definetly not a task for those new battery technologies.

If you're planning to use a lithium (LiFePO4) battery, don't use a battery isolator.
