Here's another rebuild post

http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/sh...d.php?t=105316

The little metal rings you put in the heads are tapered, they only go in one way, and you should take the circlip out and replace the spring assembly after the main shaft has been reassembled.

Depending on the K's you've done it is worthwhile considering a new pump as it is pretty reasonable at $576 from MB. Not as cheap as $40 for the rebuild kit but it is spanking new.

Someone is taking the piss there. I can't believe that would be the current price for a new or a reco pump.

I'd shop around a little.

Out of curiosity, what MB dealer did you get the quote from, and which part number did you use?

Ringwood MB Vic. I didn't want a new pump and he also told me I didn't want a new one because of the price. Part no a6120700001. Got the kit and did it myself.

If you did want one you'd be able to get one much cheaper than $8k.
