You need to let it dry out. Because it's fresh water it may not be fatal. Park the car in the sun with the windows down so the wind blow though too. You also need to use a wet vac to suck as much water out of the carpet and seats which will help the drying process. Disconnecting the battery is a good idea to stop shorting and leave it disconnected for 3 or more days while it dries.
Good luck .

Insurance will probably write it off. They are generally very conservative when it comes to water damage no matter how it happened

I don't think there is any convertible I know of that claims to have water resistant interior that includes JK. The only thing that I notice is usually convertibles with electronic controls have claims on how fast the top can be up.
So soaking in rain is definitely not something for JK. Even if going to dealer and claiming for leaking roof, you won't get anywhere. As leaking roof mostly will end up with a puddle on floor and that's about it.

This case is hardly Jeep's problem and can't see that they will do anything with warranty. In your warranty book it does state that warranty does not cover any damages caused by environmental factors or abuse. Personally, I would say soaking your JK in rain with top open is not something you should do. So I would suggest you try to claim insurance as well, most likely it'll be write off. Insurance companies I dealt with before hate water damages. After one thing is fixed, you never know what comes next. The second thing is you better check your insurance policy as well, some doesn't cover damages like this as well. If you thinking of claiming insurance, you better think of a better story than leaving your JK with no top in the rain. lol

All the things you've mentioned that are not working have one thing in common - the clockspring. These things are notoriously fragile in the JK, they usually die within a couple of years with light dust exposure, so a torrential down poor would almost certainly kill it. You can pick one up from Rockauto or Jeeps are us etc for a couple of hundred bucks.

Ok. Let's calm down on the warrantee claim. Don't think I was looking for that. Anyway. Moving on.
Carpets are dry. Seats are dry. No damage inside or smell. It's rain, pretty clean. Jeep has never been cleaner.
Radio is functional but the screen is all white. Will see if it dries out.
Yes clock spring is the likely culprit. Did a bit of reading. Shitty that they are a sub 200usd part vs a very exxy Aus part. But yeah...we can all complain about that.
Still surprised that the jeep won't indicate or turn its lights on from a little water. I had a sunshade on it. Wonder if it helped or hindered in this. Maybe it held up enough rain to soak the steering wheel rather than the relatively rapid soaking it might have got in the rain. Who knows?

Does turn on lights when the car unlocks - so yes the short in the steering wheel is a pain taking out key items like this. Seems like a crappy design.

If it does happen to you. Pull the cable under the lock spring to the right. It disables cruise control and the steering wheel buttons. Which weren't working anyway (cruise weirdly was). However you do gain lights, indicators and windscreen wipers. As well as heated seats etc. it clears whatever the problem is on the canbus system I guess. I've read it's a short from the cruise control sharing the clock Spring earth...or something, not an expert. Anyway. It gets me going until a cheap replacement can be sent in from the US.

I won't claim under warranty or insurance as the radio was shitty anyway. 731? Never did what the manual said it should and they have already replaced it once with no improvement. Was an ok Nav but media was poor. Kept freezing on random songs. Will get a pioneer or alpine something. Open to any input you guys might have. But I'll post in another thread.

Still think it should have survived this rain. But yeah, I'm ok with it right now given I can drive it legally.

Hope it helps others if it happens to you.

Meant to add. Any part numbers I need to know? Are they the same for LHD and RHD?
