fingures crossed.
Found that my glow plug caps were cracked on 3 plugs. I think that might have shorted? Maybe check yours;
Either way my little beauty works again.
Now when i have a chance i might look at improving the pick up in the tank so i don't need to have more than 20 litres always in there.
I am a little cross at having a LRA Tank (120litres) & it gets unreliable when i am down near the 25litre left mark. Yes i know that is not a big deal, just anoying.

Dont laugh !!!

We used to boil all the jugs, drain the head & fill with boiling water on an old tractor we had. worked every time.
A couple of times with my old Mercedes diesel I used to put a fan forced electric radiator under the front until the bonnet was too hot to keep your hand on. it used to start it.
Good GP's is the easy way out.
Avoid ether (aerostart) it can damage head gaskets & do other damage.

Hmm, so tell me why military trucks have ether filling aids factory mounted?

Only mentioned side effect is engine wear- every ether start is as good as 10.000km road use.
Head gasket fail is already there- ether is only an accelerator.

My XJ has the same kind of trouble and im 90% its just the glow plugs. But which ones do i get?!?!?!

i had a look at the Diesel parts and info sticky thread. i went in the NGK site and search for my car and it came up with Y-924J as apposed to the ausjeep thread saying y-923-u. Do part number change over time or what?? haha this has happened lots of times now, which do i go by??

You had starter motor probs too MM ? I am in process of removing mine. Worst job I have ever had to do !! Cut fingers on heat shields. Cable ties at back of the engine hard to get at, am hoping I dont have to take engine mount off the block to make room. Do you have any hints?
