Check out my Ride(s)
Default

The AEV kit uses Bilstien shocks and if you are one that likes a slightly firmer ride I think you would like the Bilsteins. The Rancho are good and the 9000 is the adjustable one. Good shock but depends on what you want. You would be far better to try and find a local Jeep club and see if you can find out who has similar setups in the CRD. The AEV kit is very comprehensive, with springs, shocks, sway bar link extensions (though I would recommend replacing them with disconnectable links) and rear track bar bracket.

With the CRD you may find the front drops a little lower.

Easy fit yourself all you need are some basic hand tools (spanners sockets etc), jack and stands and a torque wrench.

Sent from a tiny keyboard with fat fingers, apologies for my spelling. .

Just purchased the Rancho 2" sport kit myself as I didn't want anything too big or expensive and never plan to run bigger than 33" as it's a Sport. Will be fitting tomorrow so can take some pics and give a bit of a review after some wheeling on Sunday. Kit was around $450 (you pay $400 just for the 9000 shocks so basically getting the rest of the kit for $50). Got it delivered from Quadratec, also ordered a bunch of other kit so not really sure what shipping would've been on it's own. Probably couple of hundred. Kit uses a new spring up front to get rid of the factory rake and a spacer in the rear. Supposed to give 2-2.5" of lift. Fit my bill as it wasn't too expensive, had good quality shocks and gave me that little bit of extra lift I was looking to gain.

You'll save yourself a bucketload if you have some knowledgeable mates and are generous with food and alcohol. Buy a well known brand and you'll find installation guides on youtube. That's what we did, and just had it set up on an ipad so we could refer back to it when we go stuck.

I bought the Terflex kit for about $1000 all up, including teraflex shocks. $2500 installed is damn steep, considering you've got to drive it up to Perth as well.

With reputable suppliers you pretty much get what you pay for.

If your comparing a common height.... the cheaper systems will have less components and be more of an engineering compromise. That doesn't mean you need the most expensive system, different owners have vastly different uses for their vehicles and some just want "the look" and couldn't careless about the rest.

So don't buy solely on price or because its a "kit". Check what parts your actually getting for your money, what those parts actually do, what parts really "should" be included for a lift of that height etc and then compare. Decent suppliers kits are frequently just "suggestions" based on what their customers often ask for, but most will be able to customize their spec either up or down depending on your actual need and budget.

Buying cheap now and then having to throw it away or spend more to get it working as you want isn't really a sensible option.

I'm (sort of) down your way mate so if you want to go for a drive to the coast you're welcome to come and have a look at mine, it's petrol so not as heavy in the front end but is on the 2.5" teraflex kit with Bilsteins, was around the $1300 mark fitted from memory. A mate has the diesel with a 2" OME kit and if he isn't busy we may be able to get him around as well.
