A good 3 day quiet trip is to head up from Heyfield (overnight in comfort) and go through Boisdale to pick up Wombat Road and then onto Angus Track. Some good views and the track is in fairly good repair. Some steep but not too steep sections. Turn right onto the Moroka Road and head for Horseyard Flat for an overnighter camp spot.
Day two is heading for the Pinnacles and Billygoats Bluff Track. Spectuclar track with views steep bits and lots of fun. Lunch at Kingswell Bridge and then head into the Grant Historic area via Conway Track, Hibernia Tk picking up the Dargo Road. You can do a detour here into Dargo if supplies are low or have an issue. If not it's NW direction to the cemetery and Bulltown Spur Track and have a look at the old mining gear. Camp over at Talbotville.
Day three is out of Talbotville up Station Track (steep'ish) up onto Cynthia Range Track, down Hearn Spur and into Wonangatta Station for a look-see and out via Zeke Spur track down to Licola and back into the Heyfield area.

Alternatives are for an extra day or so. Camp at Howitt Hut then head into Butcher Country/New Caledonia tracks and out to Licola.
OR
Head north Humphry River/East Buffalo and out via Mansfield (long option!)

Lots of options up there and I haven't mentioned Blue Rag Track at all! Hope you guys have a great trip!

beware when travelling these parts of the country as itchy is often out in the bush naked looking for lost campers and male bunyips and goats to mate with at that time of year .

if you see a short tatooed man naked in the high country run

Some of the best camping at Dargo is along the river head back towards Grant Historical area and a small place called Italian Flat (not a town just a locality) long drop toilets cood camping nice river for a lazy relaxing dip and about 10 minutes Nth of dargo itself
Hema Map: High country Victoria
reference: S37'24.768 E147'15.455
I have camped there on trips that I have led for the Melb Jeep Owners club and it is a great spot and easy access to other areas (Grant istorical area, Sarah Spur track and all the way up to Mt Blue Rag

Crooked River is another great place to camp, if it's still allowed. It will be mega dusty on the road to Kingwill bridge so be prepared.I know of at least one 4by that has gone over the edge of this road due to thick dust.Howitt Hut is a great camping spot, very pretty. But if it's cold ( which it could be) I wouldn't camp there. We camped there one Easter and I have to say it was the coldest camping experience I have ever had.It was sooo cold we could not boil water.Real bloody cold.

You guys will have a great time exploring the Vic Alps.Another good track, which has claimed a few vehicles ( including one of ours ), is Collingwood Spur. You can find this track on your way to Talbotville through the Crooked River valley and it will take you to Dargo High Plains road not far from Grant.
