Is there a web site where i can check out Oztoppo maps to see if they have the tracks i drive on? I'm interested
I've found in Qld there's many well maintained fire trails and tracks that just don't appear on maps. In Victoria most tracks and trails are mapped. Many be it's just a Queensland thing.
With the OSM i also have detailed 10m contours overlaid. total cost of all maps, contours software $00.00 plus it's fun adding new tracks and info to the Open Street Mapping

Not that I know of... but if you can give me a GR or lat/long I can post up a screen shot of the area? That might give you some indication..

The price of licensed maps and mapping sofware is ridiculous, and I do hope that the open source maps continue to grow, but its a pretty time consuming process to collate it all so I can see why it's slow to expand.

I just wish for the price you pay for licensed maps that you could modify the info! like finding an unmarked locked gate 20km down a track, or no track etc.

You can get pretty good 25K:1 maps for free and legitmate if you hunt around

Oziexplorer will allow you to add events to your maps so you can mark gates and comments such as track blocked or needs permit etc

So are you doing one yourself? I need someone to throw ideas off, but i think i've got it all planned out.
Theres a "small" writeup here of my initial plan. http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...ad.php?t=89480
i might update it now.

sort of related to the open street maps, is http://www.everytrail.com - it used to use OSM i think, but they've changed to google maps. You can upload your maps from garmins, navmans, iphones and blackberrys. Photos are able to be added to the route also. A great way to share your travels with friends and family. Or even document tracks and share them on AJOR.
