If your only pumping more air in your going to run lean and melt your pistons. You still need the fuel to air ratio, it pumps more of both in so you create more power. With a super charger your using the motor to create the boost so like your ac it creates drag on your motor where a turbo if your exhaust blowing through fins on a turbine making the boost there is no drag but it gets lag if the fins are not sping fast enough.
My opinion is to turbo as its a cheaper and much easier to tune.
