As already mentioned..

I've been using the BOSCH duraterm 0 250 403 008 for many years on customers vehicles and they seem as long lasting as the originals which last any where from 150K - 400K.

There is a torque setting for tightening (as with any glowplug on any engine) and there actually is a torque setting to REMOVE the glowplugs to ensure one does not snap them off as they are quite thin. But if you go gently, touchy feely and feel for how tight they are, if they feel too tight, get the engine right upto engine temp before attempting the job and use a bit of crc type spray down there. Yes not as much fun changing out glowplugs on a hot engine but still more fun than a broken glowplug.

Regards
Daz

P.S regardless of the time the glowplug light stays on for, the engine computer will continue to turn the glowplugs on and off as needed, generally until some engine temp is noted.

Have you actually done a scan for codes? If so, is there a code for the glow plug control module?

I would make sure you replace the module first as a dead module will quite often throw glow plug codes as well. I had 4 GP error codes and the GP module code, but after only changing the module all has been sweet. I will change my plugs at some stage when I can be bothered. I have a full set of Bosch ones on standby.

Yes it about 5 seconds. On cold mornings I glow the plugs twice because the Green Diesel Engineering tune requires you to crank the car over longer to start. If I reprogram the original Jeep tune back to the ECU the car will start straight away.

You Glow plug module may also be faulty and need to be replaced. This is very common issue after bout 100,000km

Interesting that with your GDE tune it's taking longer to start on cold mornings; I've had the GDE tune for a couple of years now and it's always started first turn whether it's a cold morning or not. A few months ago it was taking a bit longer on the first turn, the Glow Plug Module fault code came up ...replaced it and it went back to starting straight away on the first turn.

When I first got the GDE tune from Stu Murchinson he did show me I may need to do a glow plug warm up. I thought nothing of it as it did start OK. Latter on I had an up grade with the DPF delete and I believe they changed the tune parameters slightly which made it harder to start.

I change my glow plug module some time back (2 yrs) and there are no GP error codes showing now.

Sounds like the DPF delete/tune parameter is doing it, interesting. My WH doesn't have a DPF, Stu never mentioned anything to me regarding doing a glow plug warm up. My tune has the EGR and Swirl motor deletes.

I recently had his 3'" ss system installed now 3"straight out of the engine with a high flow cat down the pipe and straight thru muffler.....exhilarating to drive when I opened the throttle from standstill.
