I have not replaced the diesel filter recently, but only the oil cooler
I checked the flow of diesel fuel out of the filter purge valve and it is ok, so pump ok....
so in your opinion the cause of the low pressure in the rail could be the fuel pressure regulator in the pump and the pressure regulating valve in the rail ?

The electric fuel pump in the fuel tank should be supplying diesel to the high pressure fuel pump at 62 PSI . Your scanner may be able to check this .

Read that article that I referenced above . It describes a step by step check list for no start under cranking for this vehicle / engine combination .

But are you talking about the Fuel Rail Pressure 30.5 psi which is too low a value ?

still no solution....
but a broken glow plug module could totally inhibit the starting of the engine ?

Quite possible.Anybody around close by you can swap modules ,only 5 minute
job.Mine was playing up but showing no codes at all

Get some engine start spray (Start ya bastard here in Oz) and spray it into the air intake hose before the turbo just where the PCV enters the intake. If its only a GP system problem this should start it.
