Hey the pic of the ID plate, with the words TOKOE MOTORS- is it possibly STOKOE MOTORS with the S obliterated by a rivit or hole?
That would make sense as that is the name of the assembly, and distribution co in Melbourne for Jeeps around that era.
Post a close up for the curious.
I doubt it is ex Korean war, being a CJ- not a military model, and my guess is the Oz army was driving Austin Champs or S1 Landrovers around that time
But Im not a Mil Jeep expert, just general knowledge and happy to be proven otherwise.
Great project looks like a long loveaffair is on the way!.

Well the Aust Army never realy had ser1 Landrovers except for a couple odd ones for evaluation and the "Royal Landrovers" that were brought over for QEII that were then handed over to the Army for cerimonial purpose. 1st Landrovers in general service were 1958/9 ser2 short wheel bases. But the Army did evaluate a couple of CJ3Bs.

So who knows may be it could of been one of the trails CJ3B jeeps?

For those intested, I finally finished sandblasting the frame and axles. Really happy with the sandblasting so far, that is after I learned how fast nozzles wear out at 120psi, sand can not infinatly be re-used, and eye protection gets sandblasted too!

My shed pepared for the blasting (and very happy I did!):

Frame blasted and ready to be painted:

One axle before and one after blasting

End results:

All painting with POR15 where the packaging says "you can not remove POR15 from your hands after its cured", they are right lol.
