Think I've paid up to $178 for 10 litres of my favoured Penrite...not sayin I'm rich cos I sure dont meet those credentials...but....I'll pay for whatever gives me confidence and peace of mind.... $178 for oil or 17k for an engine swap....jus sayin

While I am in Perth I am going to look up the bloke in Welshpool who sells the Amsoil stuff...he did also have the Shell Rotella T6 at one point as well. If I am going to pay $13.00 a litre for Penrite, I'll pay $14.00 for the Amsoil which has better spec anyway...

Had to make a small detour...left Perth back on 25th August...doing my pre trip checks I noticed a small smudge of pink under the water pump. I thought maybe it was a left over from when I changed the thermostat, so cleaned it off and made a mental note to keep an eye on it. I put about 1/2 a cup of coolant in the header tank to top it up anyway.
Over the next 3 weeks I checked it and there was a very slight coolant weep as I cleaned it a few more times.
In Kalgoorlie I put about another 1/2 cup of coolant in to the header tank.
Soooo, decision time as the next move was heading down to Norseman then East across the paddock. Do I take a punt and keep an eye on it, or head back to Perth 570kms away and buy a new pump and have it fitted?
Decided to head back to Perth...fortunately have family there so the van is parked back in brother's driveway.
New pump being fitted today at brother's workshop...pump cost $695.00, labour dunno yet but will be mate's rates anyway.
The only issue so far in 15,000kms so can't really complain...back on the road tomorrow...

Right move mate....45 knot Northerlies yesterday...as discussed the 'paddock crossing' would have been less than ordinary...beeeeeaudiful day here today.....bbq time soon...true stories (mostly ?) , tight lines and coldies soon....Travel safe and ENJOY !

Been in FARWEST country for the last couple of days...caught up with the man for a feed the other night, and he was also very kind to allow me to do an oil change on the concrete in his carport today...saving me getting covered in dust down the back of the caravan park!
Great bloke, thanks heaps mate, so very much appreciated...
