Here are a few shots of stage 2 of the modelling of the shape of my new bar. The next stage is to do the fibreglassing. I'm not using your basic chop strand mat fibreglassing but rather exotic knitted glasses such as unidirectional and biaxial in multiple layers.
You can also see the notched cut out for the receiver hitch.

It'll be 10 times stronger than the standard bar and approximately the same weight. Weight is a huge issue the more you load up the very front of your vehicle the less capable it'll be. I've already added 8kgs with the Tow hitch receiver. A steel bar would add another 40 plus kgs and I don't want that. The other interesting point about fibreglass is it has a very strong memory so if you do nudge a tree or a roo they'll bounces off the bar and then it will return it it's original position. However with steel or alloy it will stay embedded in your car. Mind you my bar is not designed to fend off bulls or big red kangaroos but it'll make the wallabies bounce off and knocks or scrapes will be easy to repair.

What colour should I paint it, metallic silver the same as the car or easy to maintain gloss black or silver frost?

I've nearly finished my new low profile bumper bar. I'm spraying the under coat on tonight. I had it measured up today for the 75mm polished alloy nudge hoop that also has a bar for mounting the new 7" HID driving lights.

I'll take a photo tomorrow as it sits in the undercoat finish and it should be completed in about two weeks if all goes to plan.
Stand by.

You know that once you have this finished you will make us all jealous...

Then you will have to take all the orders from everyone. Good luck and I hope it works out really great
