More importantly, how does it drive compared to before with the cam & exhaust change?
Have you had it tuned at all?

It drives great. Idle to 3000 feels much the same, still has the same torquey feel like it wants to climb a vertical brick wall just off idle and the exhaust note is way more meaty. At 3000rpm it sits it's tail down and takes off way stronger in the mid range and has much stronger top end but seems to Plato at about 6000rpm. Not sure if it runs out of cam or runs out of tune. Exhaust note completely changes at 3000rpm becoming much more aggressive.

No tune at this stage, runs fine on stock tune but can't wait to see whats hiding in the tune.

Did some lite offlroading today, all bellow 2000rpm stuff and it still feels just as torquey down low as before.

Hi mate, congrats on a good build.
I’m looking to rebuild my 2012 5.7l as it’s just clocked over 330ks.
I have a 2.9l whippel supercharger on its way, along with comp cams and lifters from the states.

I’m wondering how long it took you to complete?
Was anything too tricky that you wouldn’t recommend the build at home?
I’ll be looking to work on it over a few weekends once I have everything here ready to go.

Up around 6,000 RPM is great.

They were limited to 5,700 RPM I think, and the SRT8 pushed out to 6,400 RPM.

I think theoretically 7,000 is possible but I’ve always loved bigger block V8’s for the low down rumble and torque at 2,000 and of course above.

Thanks for that info fishframe, it could well be that's what's pulling it up because the power takes a huge dive right about that rpm. I didn't try it repeatedly because without a tune I was worried it was leaning out.

I put enough valve spring in it to get to 7 by using aftermarket springs meant for a LS. Can't wait to get around to getting it tuned
