With my push button start job the fob doesn't need to be used and stays in pocket, with the back door I just grab the handle, the back door will unlock, the side doors remain locked and alarm active, if someone tries to jump in soon as they clamber over the back seat the internal sensor sets off the alarm.....
Close back door and it is locked if you have the side doors unlocked just push the button next to the back door latch and they will all lock .... FoB stays in pocket........ though when across the car park and not sure if I locked it by pushing door handle button, I will use FOB, if out of range just look at vehicle, open mouth and point fob into mouth and push the lock button, magically the lights will flash as it locks..... Used that trick for many years, no idea why but it works ...... Maybe its a Sailor thing

Yeah....I dont unlock, and rarely lock, using the fob...just the 'magic buttons' on drivers, passengers and Cargo doors...also use the 'magic button' for the split tailgate glass...not often but handy when fishing...reach in grab what I need or put on what I dont need...saves the wind n rain coming into the equation...a bit

On the '11-'13's you can open the glass without opening the door....I 'believe' the earlier models also had this ability./

It was a big disappointment when I found out no split glass on the back, was a magic thing on the WG especially with the Kayak hanging over the back.
