Just thought I would let others know. I have recently upgraded my JK Wrangler Unlimited to a Grand Cherokee Laredo. has the 8.4a Uconnect system. I have just purchased a navigation unlock code on e-bay. Very simple process and all is working well. Highly recommend this upgrade

Default Nav upgrade

Can take photos but its full factory nav. As per in the US where dealer will do it for a fee. The only thing is no 3D buildings which is the same as dealer upgrade.

Checkout ebay seller mrcasidy. I think his name has popped up ob the forums.

Easy to deal with and response was quick and accurate.

He will negotiate a little on price

Hi people, long time reader and follower and finally thought I should try to contribute.
I have a MY14 Laredo and purchased the upgrade in October. I had to go to a dealer screen by holding a few buttons down, take a photo of a code that is displayed and email it to the seller. It took a few hours but I received the activation code put it in and it worked.

If I go straight to Nav when I start my car I see a screen saying 'Navigation is being activated', takes about 10 seconds and then its ready to go. Must check the code every time. So far it has worked with no issues.

It's a shame this is not available at dealerships as I was prepared to pay for it when I bought the car, instead I installed the advancedice system with HEMA maps (http://advancedice.com.au). The aftermarket system has many more features than the genuine but the genuine is more convenient. It was a little scary watching the install of the aftermarket system, theres a fair bit of work involved and Im sure I would have issues claiming warranty if the stereo ever failed but I like anything I put in my car to be as discreet as possible so chose this over a portable GPS.

I have no affiliation with any of the sellers and I was very skeptical before purchasing (took me about a month to pull the trigger)

So is that a replacement system or just replacement maps? Looks to still have the same Jeep interface?

Oh and my factory unit shows activating navigation if I select it as soon as I start the vehicle.

There was no hardware change, everything was in the radio. I paid for an activation code and after entering it the Nav icon appeared and the GPS now works.

I'm not sure if my maps will ever get an update in the Laredo even if one is released for upper models but I'm pretty happy with the result.

I also want to add that I am in no way telling others to buy it, as with everything we do it at 'our' risk. I considered the money risk if it didn't work worth it, plus I was hoping I may have some protection through Paypal if it didn't, not sure if I would have though.
