Hi people, long time reader and follower and finally thought I should try to contribute.
I have a MY14 Laredo and purchased the upgrade in October. I had to go to a dealer screen by holding a few buttons down, take a photo of a code that is displayed and email it to the seller. It took a few hours but I received the activation code put it in and it worked.
If I go straight to Nav when I start my car I see a screen saying 'Navigation is being activated', takes about 10 seconds and then its ready to go. Must check the code every time. So far it has worked with no issues.
It's a shame this is not available at dealerships as I was prepared to pay for it when I bought the car, instead I installed the advancedice system with HEMA maps (
http://advancedice.com.au). The aftermarket system has many more features than the genuine but the genuine is more convenient. It was a little scary watching the install of the aftermarket system, theres a fair bit of work involved and Im sure I would have issues claiming warranty if the stereo ever failed but I like anything I put in my car to be as discreet as possible so chose this over a portable GPS.
I have no affiliation with any of the sellers and I was very skeptical before purchasing (took me about a month to pull the trigger)
