I won't say there is anything wrong with Ryco but Mann are the OEM for Mercedes

so im guessing this is not common in aus?

Maybe i might be lucky and do as Clarky suggested and change to a Mann oil filter, its worth a shot as its chepaer than a bearing replacement lol

and i was thinking the same as you Bloke, if the bearing is stuffed the noise will never go away

I know there is "fluid hammer" from the high fuel pressures similar to turning a tap off at home, - you can get that hammer. Same goes for the injector lines to the rail. It comes and goes but whether I do an oil change etc makes no difference. Some mornings I get a sticky cam follower but once oil pressure rises it goes. I had the same from my brand new 3.2L BT-50! I'd just drive it till the wheels fall off.

Make sure you use a Mann fuel filter as well. Ryco quality are inconsistent and have smaller and thinner filter elements.
