Default 42rle auto heavy duty rebuild

Hi
My sons 42rle box is full of metal paste, so a rebuild is in order

Can anyone recommend an auto rebuilder that has experience with this box and can also toughen it up

Do a WWW search for heavy duty 42RLE's.... there's a few US based companies that do them.... but you'll have to do the costing carefully as they are damm expensive and all teh shipping and core charges and and add up.

Rebuild kits for the 42RLE are also not overly expensive from the states.... the local rebuilders IMHO screw you over on parts, so supplying them yourself might be an option.

As for experienced auto rebuilders..... they are all "experts" when it comes to taking your money but modern autos are electronically complex and simpler mechanically that older hydraulically controlled ones so a rebuild should be within the capabilities of any professional who has a clean workshop, the right tools and can follow directions.

In reality its not likely to be cheap so perhaps see if you can source a second hand unit before diving in.

South coast NSW Nowra

Have just had a look at tha filter, it was an aftermarket one and the pickup is further forward than Oem + the o ring was not seated properly. So much for professional mechanics the last time the auto oil was changed was in warranty period but cannot prove that now

Was thinking of Peter @ south west automatics in Liverpool but he may only be good for Oem rebuilds

And so it goes on.
That is why I am the only one who has seen the inside of my transmission apart from the original factory assembly personnel, and when it needs to be repaired, I will still be the only person who has seen the inside.
It's the electronic side of it which will most likely trip me up.
