Some positive and informative posts Buzzcutter & Mighty Mouse, thanks for sharing your considerations.

The old locker debate reminds me of the great Forum "Which Oil" debate, or "What Tyres".......these things can go on forever, however I always find solace in the poeple that HAVE owned and driven on both.

I also find that the auto lockers constantly cut in when you're offroad to the point that it gets annoying, wheres' the fun in a constantly locked truck off road? Where's the challenge? The greatest (and most fun!) aspect I find with the ARB's is that its more of a case of WHEN TO USE IT, and HOW FAR CAN I GO BEFORE SECCUMBING TO THE BUTTON!!

Imho you will always get better and more confident as a driver off road without lockers, testing your limits as to how ar you can go.....

Gold x2 - definitely a good reason to lock up your rear

I will throw into this a bit as well, wait for the lockers and gearing in one and just do the tyres and lift, disconnects etc first, drive itand see how far you get and what obstacles you can do and then assess the locker situation.

never had lockers so will not comment at all on them

I'll second that. I disconnected mine for the first time a few weeks ago and was amazed at the difference it make. Feels damn strange at first as the body is rockin' and rollin' all over the place but it's amazing how much difference it makes in the rough stuff.

I've never had lockers either but to be honest I think my JK will now get me anywhere I've got a nerve to point it just with the lift, tyres & disconnects. I tend to run out of nerve before it runs our of grip but then again I'm not really trying to scale Everest with it, just touring and little bit of weekend fun.
