Redline is the ducks nuts as far as I'm concerned - it will lower the operating temp of your tranny and save you heaps in the long run! They have a special oil deaigned for Jeep - Redline C ATR I believe it;s called.........good stuff - I also use Penrite for the diesel engine oil - great stuff too!

Well its no problem except the QD system might not work properly. The amount of friction modifier in the diff oil is critical to the diffs 'locking'. Too much and they don't 'lock up' properly. I reckon that for the QD systems you start with no friction modifier at all and just add some if needed. If you can get by with no FM all the better - and that how they came for the first couple of years till the soccer mums complained about the tyres chirping on full lock.

I wish I didn't put the FM in. I put in 50% of recommended amount. Should have been zero %. After all, I bought the GC to 4WD, not for going to tennis. Oh well - an expensive mistake.

Just rang up Jeep in Noosa to get a price in the Mopar fluid. They said they use Castrol ATF+4 and only have it in bulk. Said it has to be +4, which matches WJJeep.com.

Called Jeep Maroochydore (different dealer) and they use Mopar. Cost $47.20 for 4L. Requires 6.2L.

Will see what Repco have.

Sorry for the small hijack but from what I can gather you guys are using ATF in the WJ diffs too ?

Over here they recommend 80w90 or 75w140.

No - using the proper stuff in the diffs. I was just mentioning how expensive the Mopar diff fluid is for a WJ, and didn't want to go through that again paying for Mopar ATF fluid. But it wasn't anywhere near as bad.

I did find however, that Jeep sometimes puts ATF fluid in the transfer case to save money. Mine now has the correct T/case fluid.
