Default Transmission Fluid

Hi all,

I have the GC booked in for installation of the IRO 3" lift on Tuesday, and thought I'd get the transmission serviced at the same time as it seems to be hunting a bit lately (it's also sprung a leak in the transfer case but that's a different matter).

Any ideas on a non genuine fluid?? I know some say only Mopar, but is there a quality equivalent that hasn't caused problems? WJ Jeeps doesn't stipulate it has to be Mopar like it does some other fluids.

As I spent $400 on diff fluid, I don't want to go through that again.

It's a V8 99 model.

Many thanks.

How? Easy! Pay the retail price to Jeep for Mopar synthetic stuff for Quadra Drive. 4L. On top of that, then there's the Mopar FM.

Double checked and the $400 also included 1l of Transfer Case fluid. But then $200 on top of that for Labour, so total $600 to replace all drive train fluids other than transmission.

Thanks Tardis - will look into the Penrite.

The mopar trans fluid is probably cheaper than penrite , I paid $30 something for 4L, needs about 7L if I recall correctly.
