Mine had the C1438 code, transfer case differential clutch worn, I was asked what oil I was using..Mobil 424. Was advised genuine NV 245/247 oil must be used. Told them my understanding was Mobil 424 was rebadged Mopar 245/247. I did some research and found this confirmation from Chrysler Italia to a customers enguiry: As per your request concerning the possibility to use both the 424 Mobil or Mopar NV247, after consultation with the department concerned, we confirm the suitability of both.

Found it on JeepForum.com under: It's official oil Mobilfluid 424 can be used on NV247

I saw a copy of a Mopar Dealership letter posted on a US forum many years ago advising the Italian Dealers to use Mobifluid 424 and confirming it was the same fluid.

Darn! I just paid $69 for 1.8L of the Jeep oil because I didn't find any info on an alternative. A quick look on-line suggests I could have bought 2L of Mobilfluid 424 for around $20. I also paid $43 at Bursons for the auto trans filter when Supercheap auto had exactly the same item for $29.99.

Had the new update done, warning light is gone...for now. The box did make a horrible noise after coming out of low and trying to get back into gear - hoping it was just the fact I was stationary when i changed and not moving slowly.

I take it you had it in neutral ? I remember mine making that sort of noise once, I'd forgotten to put the gears in neutral after I'd been using 4x4 low sounded like I'd done some damage. I figured it was probably the gears still loaded from using 4x4 low and the actuator would have been dragging them out of low....never happened since I make sure I shift to neutral.
