I am very curious to see what type of radiator the mehcanic quoted me on, since I was told it was going to cost around $380.

Happy to help mate, unfortunately the 4x4 retail industry here in general is full of crooks and people who have no idea how something works or the maths/engineering behind it let alone enough mechanical skills to make comment, they also don't seem to understand that the internet is there at your finger tips and you can literally check their BS in a matter or minutes if not seconds, DBOR has got to be the worst for it.
The radiator they will be quoting will either be some basic replacement they found at bursons (after you add 50% to the price it's about right) or if you are really lucky it will be a refurbishment of the current one by a local radiator shop (which probably will be pretty decent). The aluminium ones do have a down side to them though, they don't like vibrations or flex so they are not particularly suited to monocoque design (fortunately a TJ is a real 4x4 with a proper chassis so it is a non issue), just don't mount a fan directly to the radiator if you plan on going offroad.
If you decide to go this route sing out and I will talk you through convincing the LHD fan shroud brackets to match the RHD radiator, also worth adding the foam sealant around the shroud, not only will it help protect the radiator from the shroud it will also increase the airflow through the radiator by around 15% (only cost $5). If you were going to keep the TJ (which I highly recommend
) then I would also spend the extra greenbacks on a variable speed fan controller to hold you engine temp rock steady (less than 2*C variation) rather than it cycling by 10-15*C (or more) constantly.
