Safety Recall N23 for WH anyone had it done yet?

The USA recall notice reads in part " The transfer case actuator on your vehicle may experience a transfer case actuator encoder electrical failure that results in unintentional transfer case shifting into the neutral position"

It is also stated that Chrysler will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected vehicles to reprogram the Final Drive Controller Module with new software, the four wheel drive system will then be function tested. Vehicles found with an inoperative transfer case actuator will also have the actuator replaced!

This is not mentioned in the Australian recall.

So I intend to take this up with Chrysler Australia, I have also sent an email to the Customer Care, Chrysler Group LLC.

I'd like to ascertain how many on this forum have found their vehicles actuator has failed. If you could PM me or place it on the forum that would be great.

It almost sounds like the software update 'tightens' the parameters around the actuator encoder (to ensure it throws an error rather than shifting to neutral.) and has been highlighting previously ignored "errors" in the encoder values.

Thanks mate...I had the reflash a few days before a trip to Fraser Island and was not happy with not having 4wd low capability if I needed it! Anyway after talking to the jeep techs I was assured that I wouldn't have any issues with the driveline I just wouldn't be able to select low range...knowing the capabilities of my WH in hi range I went anyway and the vehicle didn't look like getting bogged even though Indian Head bypass was soft as and there were big holes going up the track to Orchid Beach from the heavy traffic over the school hols and large boats being towed....love my WH these things are a weapon!

As 08crd mentioned, it could just be that the EVIC is now reading different and the 'actual' fuel economy hasn't changed???

Keen to get to the bottom of it.

Hi all, Had my Grand in at the mechanics yesterday changing diff oils etc etc.
He also reloaded the Eco Tune. Although it was only yesterday, it appears that I may have my economy back??
Still waiting for my new O2 sensor, so will see if that makes a difference as well.

I recommend that those who have the GDE tune and have also had the recall done, that they re-load the tune just to make sure.

Took my dads WH in for the recall, tested it as soon as they were finished and low range worked... Tested it while I was backing our 2.5 ton boat up a gravel drive way last week and yep "service 4x4" .. Jeeps booked in again for Thursday.. What do I say to them as they kept trying to say its our WH fault and not theirs?

I'm just going to take my ipad and show them this site..

Ask them to clear the codes "3" times & then see how you go, this seams to be the step that's not followed. The recall procedure wouldn't state to do this if it wasn't required.

Thanks..is this what everyone else does? Jeep dealership is 1 hour drive from me so it's like 2 hours total drive + waiting time I waste each time... Just don't want to do it any more than I have to.

You can PM me as I'm having major problems after the recall was done.
I'm still in conversations with my Jeep Dealership and they are being helpful and positive however there is no fix yet to my XH diesel Commander.
I can still get 4x4 low but upon start up and then driving forward I hear the TC actuator motor doing a shift and the transfer case clutch is locked like it does in 4x4 low but the diffs aren't. Then as I turn out of a drive the car does a front and rear wheel hop as the TC goes into 4x4 high, clutch releases then all is OK. BUT twice it has dropped into full low 4x4 at about 20kph. Now that's a server safety issue!
