Default Tire size

It has probably been asked a hundred times before.
However what brand tires make 35 inch mud tires that actually measure 35 inches ???

I'd go to a few tyre shops with a tape measure and confirm it yourself. I believe the Nitto brands are pretty accurate but check yourself and let us know.

It might interest you to know Nitto are also heavy when compared to something like a BFG KM2 (315/75R16) at 66.1 lbs and the equivalent Nitto at 82.37 lbs
The extra weight is largely attributed to the E ply rating - KM's D = eight plies and the Nitto's E = 10.
With the negative attributes unsprung weight brings to the equation, hauling 65 lbs is a high price to pay IMOP for two extra plies & 1mm extra clearance under the pumpkin

Nitto's are closer to what's printed on the sidewall than many, which is nice if that all you need to know

I'd looked around asking the same question myself.

I'm currently running Mud Hogs in a 35x12.5x17 that actually measure a diameter of 850mm or 33.5"

The Nitto Trail Grapplers also measure 850mm or 33.5".

According to what's written on the side wall, one is legal one isn't!

The Nitto Trail Grapplers in 35x12.5x17 are 885mm or 34.8"

There's the "Pit Bull Rocker" in a 35x12.5x17 which measures 889mm or 35.1"

Most others I've found come up at least 1/2" - 1" short

Don't forget that measuring off and on the Jeep will also give you anywhere from 10-20mm difference unless you inflate the tyre to stupidly high levels.

I wonder, are there any tyres that are bigger than advertised? Is there anything that would be legal specs-wise but illegal according to the measurements?

My 35" Nitto Muddies were calibrated to 33" using Procal. So if one wanted 33" so one should go 35"?

Paying for 35" but getting only 33" is not really the direction I want to go

My speedometer is set to 31.75" with my Procal for my 285/70r17 Terra Grapplers. I "calibrated" it to that setting to get my speedo accurate at 100km/h by using my GPS to check actual speed. With all the pitfalls of physical measurements or calculating diameter, I never got it right before then.
