Our Club insists the same thing - maybe not 'rated' as such but 'recoverable points' all the same.

The last thing a Trip Leader wants is a new person stuck with no way of getting them out - doesn't instill much confidence in the Club from the newbie.

Agree JKohn all vehicles going offroad must have secure recovery points, no argument there. Just there is no standard for rating recovery points as it is simply too hard & an area where manufacturers are very reluctant to actually put a number on them. It's near impossible to say you need a certain sized hook for a certain weight car as in a recovery there are so many variables like how steep the hill, how deep the mud or how fast the tow vehicle takes off. Other than collared eye bolts & a few quality hooks there are very few attachments available with a rating stamped on them so would be difficult to even comply.

Same as jkohn, each 4b needs a recovery point as apposed to a tow/tie down point. this is what our club is getting at. for the safety of all. We have some very experienced members in our club, some who work in the 4wd industry, and we use there experience as a guide.

As stated in the manual the tow eyes only purpose is to recover a standed vehicle stranded off road.
