Default 3.0 CRD oil leaks

My CRD Commander has 6 months warranty remaining and with only 39,000Km I have noticed oil on the front diff housing though I can't see where it is coming from. The dealer's service manager does not seem interested {his comment was all diesels leak oil}. Have any of you guys had similar leaks & what if any action Jeep took to rectify them under warranty.

Hi Bags, to put it bluntly your Dealer is talking Bulls#*t. Jeep/Merc diesels should not leak any oil at all. First you need to determine if it's diff oil or engine oil that's leaking. This is pretty easy to determine. If it's engine oil it will be very jet black and thin. If it's diff oil it's clear and has a horrible distinctive smell and it's a thicker consistency.
It's more likely to be engine oil and if it is, it's maybe working it's way down from the turbo. If it is coming from the turbo then it's not a huge problem and there's is plenty of info and knowledge we can share on how it's fixed.
These Merc engines also had a fault with the oil pressure sensor leaking occasionally. Most Jeep Dealers will happily do the repair under warranty. I have never had a problem on warranty claims with Jeep it's just getting them to diagnose the problem correctly and then fix it. They haven't been very good at the fixing part.

Thanks for the info. I have written the dealer a letter & will be dropping it back to them for a couple of other minor jobs when the parts arrive. I told them I would require them to address the oil leaks at that time. If I have no joy I will go straight to Jeep Australia.
regards

Good on ya and well done! If you have any problems just say your next step is to take it to Small Claims or similar judicial system you have in your State. It only cost a small dollar value and you represent yourself but it rarely gets to this level as I trust your dealer will see the light. Most Jeep Dealers have a very good level of customer service and are more than willing to fix warranty problems. I'm sure Jeep Australia refund the Dealers the labour component and parts are free so it no big deal or cost to them.
