Hmm haven't heard of the ant sand but I've got trails of "Ant Rid" liquid everywhere & it just seems to make the bastid things fitter & fatter. I thought the deal with that stuff was that they dragged it back to the nest & killed their kinfolk? All mine has done has attracted their kin & then some grrrrrrr.

I have them marching across my computer monitor, crawling over ashtrays, bathroom mirrors, bedding & any number of places where there is zero food source for them, it's just insane.

Off to search google for home made ant kill to thwart the ebay scalpers.

Di - we used to have the problem hardore in Caboolture.

Solution - find the nest, pour brown Vinigar down it.

Do it for a couple of days. Every time they appear, do it. They stop after a few months (yes months, but then they never come back, ever.)

Buy an echidna.

I think ants only go nuts just before it rains, so longer periods of ant craziness is probably just the world ending.

Might be the nasty (more annoying) Argentine ants.
Borax is widely mentioned. Apparently ant-sand etc. don't affect them much.
Google may help, or a pest-dude.
