Glow Plugs - Part No and Replacement

I have ordered 6 from the place you suggested Muiltihull and I am now just waiting for them to arrive and I will do all 6 at the same time. Then at least I will know they should all be good. I will keep all but No.s 3 and 4 as they are the ones showing up as a fault code, just gotta love cars .......

My brand new glowplugs (6) have arrived, so it looks like they will get a workover this weekend

I went to replace my #6 glow plug last night and what a nightmare of tubes looms and plastic brackets in the way. I can hardly see the GP let alone get to it with my 8mm long socket. Has anyone every replaced their #6 glow plug on a Merc V6 3 litre diesel before, if so what the plan of attack to get to the GP?

As mentioned below, I will be doing mine this weekend HA HA! If I am successful and I find a way of doing all 6 in one go, I will let you know on completion.
Otherwise I will be like you I guess and I will be looking for ideas or some plan of attack also

All glow plugs replaced, 6 newbies all running OK The worst were the LH front and the RH rear but we got there in the end Ran the scanner over it and cleared all of the codes and it seems to be running OK. My numbering of each glow plug comes from a drawing that I printed out from the Technical Publication that I purchased.

The LH front No 1, remove engine cover, remove 2 x Tork bolts holding a small electrical coonection box and move out of the way, cut zip tie holding other tubing against fuel rail (I think) and then remove glow plug electrical connector, use long 8mm socket and flexible knuckle and 3/8 drive ratchet to remove.

The RH rear No 6, remove engine cover, remove RH engine cover retaining bracket (10mm bolt), remove glow plug electrical connector, then use 8mm long socket and small extension bar and insert at the back of electrical wires carrier and remove with 3/8 drive ratchet.

Opposite of each case to replace the glow plugs. I hope this may help.....

The rest are all pretty straight forward I thought so if you need to change them, either one or all, seriously it is not too hard and you don't need to give your money to the stealerships to get it done.

I had another go at remove that tricky #6 Glow Plug last night and your advice helped as I had another closer look. Yes you can just get the long 8mm socket and extension down the back of the wiring loom once you remove the rear engine cover bracket.
You had me confused at first because Glow Plug #6 is rear L/H side not the right. You were looking at it as you work in the engine bay where as #6 is on the L/H side of the car.
You wouldn't believe it I cleared the error codes for #6 GP and now #2 is showing as faulty. I've just ordered another 6 from EuroParts-San Diego (USA) $205 delivered to my PO box and they'll be here next week.
