Unfortunately this diagram is incorrect. The cylinder numbering starts at #1 at the front R/H side (drivers side); then #2 R/H middle same side; then #3 at the rear R/H side; then swap sides to the L/H front for #4, and then #5 Middle L/H then #6 at the rear.
If you don't believe me just take the Glow Plug lead off the front L/H GP and then check your error codes on your scan tool.

I used this same diagram 12 months ago to find my 3 stuffed GP's and was totally thrown by the scan tool error codes that then came up.

You are correct with the numbering. I replaced all 6 glow plugs when I did mine so I never chased any specific fault code. As with the drawing I am not sure why it is different from the actual numbering.

I know... ït's a jeep thing"...

Default Glow Plug Module

To add to the confusion the glow plug module plug going to the glow plugs the terminals have a different number as well.

There could be some merit in unplugging the module and measuring the resistance to earth on each glow plug circuit at the module ,then unplug a glow plug and measure again, this will confirm you have the right one and they are faulty and not the module, wiring etc.
I found faulty glow plugs had a higher resistance, then I tested them across the battery breifly. The ones with the high resistance did not glow. The good ones did, with low resistance.
Then I thought way mess around change the lot and all good for another 100,000klm.
