thanks good ot hear what people think of it any ideas what i should make the actual one out of i was thinking marine ply, i did have the uhf on the ash and speaker unit where the factory sub was but since put that nack in the biggest advantage is i dont hav to pick up the mic to talk anymore

haha nah there my toolbox keys for the trailer... which is where my next project is headin going to start on a trailer top tent for overnight stays as ive been going away every weekend

That's the drama. There are good mounting points up front with the visor hook screws. There is an interior light but it's held up on to smooth (unthreaded) rods by a couple of split star washer thingies. (Like the snap on washers that hold the wheels on a kids tricycle.)
These are difficult to replace but must come off just to replace the map light globes.
Don't know if there are better mounting points somewhere else under the head liner. Maybe someone with a stock roof console would know?

Someone might develop/invent an XJ console if enough XJ owners wanted one and were prepared to pay a reasonable price.
