Default CAI Mod

Have been looking at CAI systems for a while now but I didnt really want a pod system that still sucks hot air in from under the bonnet plus I thought a snorkel was a better option. After a bit of procrastination I liked the idea of using the cold air vent to pump cold air into the air box. So here it is.
Made up the steel joiners using exhaust pipe and mig welded.
Bought some flexi hose from and auto shop and voila. One CAI system.
All I need now is a bonnet scoop to force cold air in at high speed.
Been running it for a week now, havent noticed any fuel improvement but have noticed an improvement in the high torque range. Lot more responsive at 80kph.

well I am not sure where I would have connected to the front, didnt seem like any room to me and certain not above bonnet height.

yeah, snorkel would have been ok. I like the look of a snorket but I weighed it against would I use snorkel - nope
and plus I have a custom mod for a light bar I am working on and that would have gotton in the way.

I have my bonnet scoop now

I dont know about other TJ's but my model you are able to put the hose directly over the air vent and no water gets inside the cab. The vent intake is raised above the base of the vent. Same as my CAI mod, the air intake is high and left of the vent intake. Also when I open my air box thier is a water hole at the bottom. Unless I plan on going duck diving with my Jeep no water is getting in.

I have one of those bonnet vent things.. works a treat for your airflow into your interior vents, blows the hair off your toes

Someone else who has done the same sort of thing, but they have removed the stock air box and placed a pod in the cowl there (apparently he has some pre filter or seomthing along those lines that stops the water from getting into the filter).....
