And in response to fester, if that was me and the most convenient day to pick up the car was a Saturday, I'd be going there on the Saturday during their big sales day and making a large noise that would frighten off potential new clients about how they have your money but now don't want to help you once the deal is done.
I'd be letting them know that that is what I was planning to do as well.
Don't get me wrong, I can understand that they would prefer you to pick it up another day and if they asked nicely and give you the option, and say to you thanks for that, here's a nice bottle of red as a mark or our appreciation, but if you can only do it on that day, then they need to look after you. No excuse! What brand are we talking about out of interest?

I'm on the same page as you pmac. It's not like we are Brissie locals and can knock off an hour early and duck in. If I didn't need a day off from work I'd be making a bigger issue and have already pointed out that it is not good business practice in my eyes.
Not sure if I want to name the brand. Not from being scared about action from them but more so from the backlash from you guys...
We have traded the wifes car and bought a Mitsubishi Challenger to be our tow/touring vehicle as the wife will not set foot in the Grand again after this second break down. We want something with warranty and locally serviceable as our reliable camping/vanning vehicle. This is good and bad as now the Grand is solely my play vehicle and I can do exactly what I wnat without that annoying noise. Not that it stooped me before but all my mods seem to trigger an annoying squeek.
