I pulled my stuffed NV 245 Transfer Case down today and here is what I found.
When you strip a gear I make sure I do it properly. This is the sprocket that drives the front drive shaft. The main sprocket is also bruised too. To replace both gears and a new chain is approximately $400 for genuine Mopar pats ex the USA.

Wow, Multihull, you really did it properly. That's like 11 teeth. Do you have a video by any chance on when it happened? What does it take to do that? NV's are pretty tough so you must've been pretty rough or is it that easy to break the teeth once the chain loosens a bit.

But hey, that's not too expensive to fix though.

That is really an excellant job on those teeth, worth mounting in a frame for the shed. Hate to think what the price is over here.

Ditto to all that.

Also what oil have you used in it? ... And do you think that could be relevant at all? I wouldn't think so.

It happened in early December and I posted a few photos on a previous thread; Commander makes it up "The Ledge"
http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...d.php?t=120876

The cost to replace the two chain sprocket cogs plus a new chain with original Mopars parts shipped from the USA is only AU$379, bargain! I've already fitted a replacement TC so the old one is now a spare. The reason for the damaged is a stretched chain. I've learnt a lesson that if you give your Jeep heaps you need to replace the chain every 100,000km
