Hmm... can anybody say "revenue raising"???

I did hear a while back that a guy got out of a speeding ticket (not sure which state) by taking it to court and protesting that the covert means which were used to hide the camera's operation meant it could only be seen as revenue raising and not a deterrent.

He claimed that if the police were serious in reducing speeds and associated accidents then the cameras should be visible and hidden. The judge asked the police to respond and positively identify how a disguised camera can reduce speeds when the offence is not realised til some weeks later. If not, then it could only be seen as revenue raising.

Of course the police would not admit to revenue raising so the case was closed as entrapment or something similar. Cant remember the exact details but if I find them again I will post a link.

AT several intersection is Perth where crashes do occur the state government decided it to be the safe thing to remove the red light cameras and install dual use red light/ speed cameras and they also removed the warning red light camera sign ahead! so this is done purely to increase incidents and profit. if they had a warning at these places would you speed or run a red? NO. so they give you no warning. brilliant strategy. Over 600 people on the first day of implementationwhere caught speeding through ONE set of lights, these 'potentially life ending' incidents could of prevented and not just profited of by installing a warning before the intersection. ps not one accident happened at this intersection.
