Default XJ: Matts Build

I've had my XJ for about 7 years and unfortunately had condemned it to a life of heavy abuse and not much love. Recently though I reached the point where I thought I should either sell it or start putting some money into it.

I couldn't bring myself to sell it as I still love the car so I decided to start doing some mods and fix it up. Nothing too full on, so not sure if my posts belong here - but here it is anyhow.

I had done a few cosmetic things already:
Stereo Upgrade – Kenwood 6” Splits in Front Doors, Kenwood 4x100W Amp under the drivers seat, Kenwood 6” 150W 3ways in rear speaker pods
Driving Lights in Bumper Bar
New Alpine Head Unit – Ipod connector to Glovebox
Moved rear speakers into custom boxes (more bass!)

I started with a full service - changed all oils, filters, etc. Regassed rear struts (I was really sick of being hit in the head!) and did a radiator flush.

Had OME suspension installed front and rear with Nitrocharger Sport Shocks - has lifted it about 2" at the front and 3" at the rear. It was sagging something shocking in the back.

I had already ordered a set of 30x9.5 BFG's to go on the stock rims, but a healthy tax check meant new rims were on the cards as well. In retrospect I should have gone 31's but clearance and flare coverage would be suspect. I had initially just wanted a set of blacked out sunraysia replicas, but decided to go with a bit of bling - 15x8 Allied Thunder Polished.

I also removed the side trim after seeing a few pictures without it. It was pretty faded and had started to come off anyway. Massive PITA, but worth it I think. I kept the trim anyhow in case I change my mind. Took off the mudflaps too.

Looks heaps better without the trim I reckon mate, just remember now your doors are that little bit more susceptible to carpark door dings, maybe some sliders with bars?

Looking good though mate

Cheers,
Hamsteh

Thanks hamsteh, yeah sliders are def on the cards - just haven't found any I'm happy with yet. Good stuff is available in the states, but postage on that weight is not feasible. I'll probably look at getting something fabricated.
