Default acceptable front and rear recovery points

what is necessary? I've got the factory one on the front and the rear towbar holes, but they look pretty flimsy.

I think you're looking at under $150 for a set of front hooks and if you have a tow hitch at the back you can probably purchase a shackle receiver for about $40. I'm currently in the same boat, just trying to work out if I'd rather spend the extra few hundred and get a front bumper from the states....

yeah - as Hamsteh sez use a shackle receiver in the back on the tow bar. the fronts will need hooks or shackles (properly rated). dont use the factory tie down ring for recoveries! you may have to get the attaching brackets as well to bolt them to the frame. if you have the frame brackets you might be able to use some hooks/shackles from Repco etc for about $25 and bolt them to the brackets - have a look as i cant remember if they bolt on the same as the factory tie down (from memory they do).

cool thx guys - found these at wooders:

http://www.wooders.com.au/index.php?...roducts_id=737

looks like there's a fair choice for hitch receivers - ironman, bushranger, arb...

a custom bar would be sweet but it's a fair way down the q

Hmm on a bit of a thread hijack, the bracket for my stock tie-down point looks pretty darn similar to those tow-hook mounts, with the bar that extends down the rail a little way - is this the norm?

Dang, was hoping maybe I'd fluked one of those factory tow hook mounts. I guess I'll find another pocket to empty....
