Default 1978 CJ-7 Jeep

MODEL: 1978 CJ-7 Jeep

ODOMETER KM: Engine replaced with a 4.0L had 292k on it when I changed it and ive done less than 5k since.

CONDITION:
Good.
A lot of parts I had bought in from USA. It also has been painted with two-pack paint, had the radiator radiator re-cored, new carpet, a lot of new gauges on dash, new seals for doors etc.
Needs some work to iron out some bugs. Chassis is bent, ideally needs to be straightened. Doors are splitting a little (most likely because the chassis isn't straight)
Front diff is bent, I have all the new bushes for that.

ACCESSORIES:
4.0L from a 1994 XJ Cherokee
1/4 inch molded aluminum sidesteps
Truss on the rear diff
90% tread on 4 tyres, spare is brand new.
power braking master cylinder from a F100.
New clutch setup
Hard top
Power steering from 94 XJ Cherokee (needs a new hose cost >$100)
New shackles front and rear.
Castor shims for front diff.
New engine mounts.
Custom water pump.
Fuel system runs two new exterior fuel pumps and a 1lt surge tank.
Stainless mandrill bent 2.5 inch exhaust.
A lot of switches bolts, bushes, seals new, too many to mention.

REGISTRATION NO:
Selling without plates and registration.

REASON FOR SELLING:
I restored the jeep over 4 years and enjoyed the build. But now I don't really drive it, as I take the train to work and share a car with g/f. I also don't have the time to work on it as im renovating my house atm.

PRICE AND PRICE CONDITIONS:
$6k negotiable.

LOCATION:
Frankston, Vic

** Suits someone who wants a project, all the parts are there just needs some time and patience. Quite cheap as I reckon Ive spent approx $20k all up.

Does it drive OK? I see plates on it.
Does the bent chassis affect it much?
How is it for rust?
What rust repairs have been done?
What is the gear box 3 or 4 speed?

The Gearbox is a T-18A 4 speed with granny first gear. Around town I only use 3 of the gears and start off in second.

Its got a little surface rust in places but not much, and just a little surface rust around the cracks on the doors.
When I restored the car I took everything off the chassis, got rid of all the rust with a brush wheel, painted it. Got a tub from Perth which has a tiny bit of rust coming through it now, not much and not a big deal. The front wheel arches are new so no rust there, and the window frame is fibreglass so no issue there either.

The bent chassis doesn't affect it much as far as driving. You'll go through tyres quicker than you would without it.

It does drive well, sounds great.

It does have plates on it until the 24th of April. I just can't afford to register it and insure it so i don't plan on paying the rego when it comes up.

Btw I redid the rear diff it has one piece shafts in it, forgot to mention that.
I also have alot of information, wiring diagrams etc to go with it.

Any other questions?
I would like to keep the car, but as i said I don't have the money or the time to give it what it deserves. It is a good little jeep.

Thanks

Still for sale,
a little bit more about the jeep.

Before I acquired the car 5 years ago, it had sat around for a while. It took me 4 years to restore it. Last year about this time I took it to the mechanic to get the roadworthy, which I had, and drove it around for a year.
I do change the oil and check the coolant etc. myself. To be honest I found I was better off attending to the car, as I found it hard finding a good mechanic!

The immediate thing with the jeep is the power steering hose is busted, I originally had it made up at Enzed for about $100.
The chassis is a little bent, the doors are cracking a little, and I think it might be running a little cold.
Runs great, sounds great.
I have some spare parts and bits and peices ill put in the boot.

I have uploaded some more photos of the jeep for you to take a look at.
