Unhappy dam that engine check light

I took the 4 bolts that hold a housing that is at one end is on the rubber tube that goes to the intercooler, the other side goes to the EGR tube. I hope you know what I am talking about.
Anyway I removed this housing and fitted a small metal disc to block the EGR tube. The reason is to stop the ash and oil from clogging the MAP sensor.
When i started it again it wouldn't accelerate, just idling and the engine check light was on.I found that the accellerator module { near where the diesel filter is mounted } was not properly pluged in, so i pluged it in all the way, started the engine again and yes it is driveable. I drove the KJ to the local NRMA guy and got him to put his scanner on the OBD port to read the code.
He read No codes
The engine check light remains on.
Help me please!!!!!!!!!!!!
why is this light on?
Is it that the computer needs reseting?
I removed the + of the battery , waited for about 30 seconds and reconnetcted the battery and still tyhe engine check light is still on.
I need ideas please

What the? It sounds like you blocked off the air flow into the Flow Control Valve and EGR body. The place to block EGR is where the EGR flange is attached to the Exhaust manifold on the driver side of the engine. If you blocked off the intercooler airflow I am amazed it ran at all.

I think i tried to block off the EGR tube at the wrong end ?
I didn't block off the intercooler air flow, it was by the sound of this the wrong end of the EGR tube.
The main thing is the engine check light is still on. next weekend I will try to remove the EGR tube and and block off the correct end.
it is not blocked right now, i wil try to clean it again, i am cleaning it with engine degreaser from super cheap.
I need to know the engine check light is still on when the engine is running, the car droves normally and is hill climbing very well and is 0 to 60 Km per hour in a few seconds

Not sure if this will help, but I fitted an egr block off plate on my Triton, it was fine for a couple of trips but the CEL came on after that. I then drilled a 6mm hole in the plate and the light went out.
It appears it needs an amount of air pressure to think it is still there. It now reduces the egr from 30mm flow to 6mm...

Man i have no idea what you have blocked.

Check the 6 mm tube that goes from the vac pump to the top of the EGR diaphragm, If this is kinked or off completely it will though and CEL.

I have blocked mine off and it did not throw a CEL, I have an 03, But newer models may need to register some type of flow.. if so as Madkaw said 6 mm hole in the middle of your blocking plate... see how ya go

Good luck

I placed and small plate in the manifold end of the EGR tube, started the engine and saw the engine check light on, so i removed the small metal plate and still the engine check light is still on. when i did this I removed 4 small bolts with a 8 mil socket on a universal joint. The shaft came in contact with the clamp on the top of the EGR tube. Sparks happened. I was not touching the battery cable on the starter motor. When i saw the engine check light as i said I removed the blockage and still the check light is on. I will as you guys said put a 6mm hole in the plateand refit the plate

You can clear the code with a scanner or start and stop three times before it (CEL) goes away.
