Default 305 70 17 on jk without lift?

hi all,
ive been lurking on the US sites and seems some people have got 305 70 17 on stock 7.5inch wheels without lift but with backspacers.

Has anyone done or seen something like this? im in market for new tyres and im all for wider but not getting lift anytime soon (until wife cools off about the cost of tyres). id rather 305 than 285 but not sure if 305 on 7.5 is wise.

Any advice in regards to on road driving?I understand that off road it will rub.

305 or 285 in maxxis bighorn

On the 305/65/17's I got, the recommended rim width is 8-10" so not sure how they would go on stock rims. 285's are taller by maybe 8mm if u want the height rather than width.
