Default Truetrac for KJ Cherokee 2005 CRD

Hi, i'm thinking about getting Detroit Truetrac installed to front diff,
as far as i know KJ has limited slip on rear diff from factory. Has anyone has done it before? Is it worthwhile?
Cheers

Quite a few people have done it, both in Aus and in the US. Those who've had it, report very good results off road. On road, with 2wd engaged, you won't know its there; with full time 4wd engaged, I gather the steering is heavier, bu tI don't know any more than that.

Yes Mate, I put DTT's in both front and rear, and they do make a real amount of difference. In the front you feel the steering pull to centre a bit more, because of the more even power distribution, but its nothing that I actually must say I perferred. Made a real big difference in sand driving, I found the car didnot steer itself, as the power was constantly split across left and right, in a normal open diff, as a wheel loses traction in sand, all the power is transfered to it as it can spin freely, so suddenly no power to the other side and the car dives off in that direction. With the DTT in the front, the car cut thru the sand, even other peoples deep tracks with ease, perfectly straight, and when I choose to turn, the car goes exactly where I want it to.

offroad, the DTT senses when a wheel looses traction, then sends to power to the oposite side, basically locking up the diff.

If you are running bigger tyres, may be a chance to think about 4-10's as well.

Its a geared lockup devise, not like the ome LSD with all the clutches in it. It also doesnot require the special slip additive that is required in the standard diff.

I recommend, for touring/sand/dirt road driving a DTT is the way to go as its always LSD and always working, if you want lockup for crawling/offroading I really think a airlocker is the way to go as you only need lockup for very short periods generally, and the rest of the time the front diff is completely open, so tight turns in low is not straining the front diff. So deciding on which way to go, is up to what exactly you want to do with the vehicle.

I had a dodgy pinion seal put in when I did mine, but it was replaced and no problems since. I have seen other with a leaky standard pinion seal, so not a real biggy, come to think of it, my standard one was replaced about 1 year in on warrenty..

No other issues.
