Default What AT tyres on WH GC Laredo

Hi All,
I am looking around for a set of All Terrain tyres for my 09 GC. We are planning a trip to Cape York in about 12 months and the standard Wrangler highway terrains are not going to be suitable for this trip and others that we plan to do.
I'll be looking forward to your opinion's etc on what alternatives are available to me. I am also planning a suspension upgrade well before the trip and willl be upgrading to Old Man Emu shocks with medium coils and a pair ofair bags fitted in the rear coils to take the extra weight when loaded for travelling.
I am open to all options and look forward to the flood of passionate replies that I think this might bring.

We run BFG A/T's on our WH, they go really well in the dry and wet.

Hi Chris,

Cooper at3's are getting a good rap at the moment, i have always had a good run from b.f. goodrich a/t's 90 - 110 k, reasonably quiet for such a good tread, good punture resistance.

Good choice with ome the grands ride nice with them and good flex / travel.

So far I'm happy with the geolander at/s tyres on my WG. Unlike the Coopers they grip well in the dry and the wet.

I don't know about the AT/3, but I had STT's and never ever again. Downright scary in the wet. Cooper have a hard compound to make them last longer (that's what they advertise - longlasting), but in the wet they slide all over the place. So the money you save on replacing tyres is more than eaten up in crash repair bills.

Will have to wait and see if the AT/3's are good in the wet after doing 20-30 thousand k's.

Have a read of the latest 4wd Action AT review. The Coopers were worst on the tarmac braking test which in my book indicates a hard tyre which are bad in the wet.

Coopers of past have a serious chipping problem IMHO which also says they have a hard compound.

They may be good in the dirt and mud but how many K's a year do you do in those conditions, excluding a Cape trip. One final comment, when I went to the Cape out of four vehicles the only tyre we had a problem with was a Cooper, a nice stone puncture through the tread.
