Default Hand Winches

Hi All,
Does anyone know of the 'Bushranger' site, they have a emergency hand winch for $99 its only rated to 1500kg dead-weight pull. As im new I wondering if that would be enough to get me out of a problem situation?
or do I need to invest $400 to $500 in a hand winch?

That winch would be useless in recovering a vehicle, your KJ weighs more than that. We (gi-frog and I) used one of those big beefy hand winches to move a JK Unlimted off the trail he was blocking at the last Jeep Jamboree (he ripped his fuel line out on a branch). It's not hard but it does take awhile compared to an electric winch. Those hand winches and their cable are also heavy, a good one weighs more than a start battery. Get some advice from gi-frog he's the master with those hand winches (not hand wenches).

Default brand?

Does anyone have expierence with or know which brand is best?, I was looking at Big Haul (2500kg rated), Black Rat (2500kg rated), Terrain Tamer (2500kg rated)...all 3 seem to be about $450 to $475 delivered via ebay I also noticed one called Titan (5200kg rated) for $550 delivered.
Any Idea's which is reliable?
Thanks

Just get a cheap 12v winch. Nothing worse than getting stuck when ya can't be ************, and the investment will be well worth it.

Default 12v winch

As this is my first 4wd (yes, sad I know) I have a stock jeep, no bull bar.. can a electric winch be fitted, and does it stick out and look stupid without a bull bar, or can they only be mounted to the bull bar (yes I know your laughing but im new and almost clueless.. but at least I got buying the jeep part right)

If you plan on goin off road, I'd be looking at a bullbar/winch combo. Other than tyres it's about the best recovery tool.
