Default Bonnet Vents

Well, we have had a couple hot days lately in Tas (rare I know) and it has highlighted the fact that the bonnet does not let the engine cool (or even breath).

So, bonnet vents are back on the agenda. Has anyone fitted vents to their JK CRD, and if so, where did you put them?

There has been a lot of discussion in the States regarding best place for hood vents. Seems to be that what's needed at highway speed differs from what's needed when offroad due to differing high and low pressure zones in the engine bay. Last thing you want to do is improve slow speed heat dissipation but reduce the effectiveness of your radiator at highway speed. The twin vents from runcool seem to be in the right location for the best of both worlds.

reverse facing vents will cop a defect notice in most states, just keep that in mind before cutting any holes in your jeep.

Been stopped twice for license check and random breath test with tube doors and roof down, no mention on my vents or missing rear mudflaps
Sometimes its easier to apologise than to ask permission haha.

Now mabye if i was flying a WW2 Spitfire I'd get concerned about hose leaks and rear facing vents... Just about everything is ilegal these days, one day some smart bastard will stand up and say enough is enough with the bull$hit nanny rules and actually get back to enjoyig life with its associated risks.

Hey I work in PNG so it takes me a few days to recalibrate my head to the red tape masacre of freedom to choose for ones own self.

So yeh... be carefull folks you might get another fine...

Rant over.... Sorry! (see its easy haha)

I like the one piece hood vents..like poison spyder or american rock rods....

Unfortunately the PS one isnt for the JK in one piece but they do fit...

The American Rock Rods one is only $170ish in the US and lines up better witht he reinforcing panels beneath the top skin...it would be my choice over the PS one...
Poison Spyder install on a JK
American Rock Rods install

FWIW
Matt.
