Wj got hot in sand

Hey all, my old wj, ( the one burns wrecked out) used to get a bit warm in the sand. I was wondering whether if I get another v8, I should invest in some bonnet vents?

In the days I used mine for wheeling (a while ago now) it used to get a little hot when doing steep low range hills. What fixed it was a new clutch pack for the viscous fan. The external air sensor had shat itself so it wasn't turning on when it got hotter than normal. An easy fix.

What temps do yours actually run at. Mine was running at 100-105 before its meltdown. I'm pretty sure that was hotter than it should be.Due to the oil smelling really badly burnt. I had checked the oil level, but don't know how long it was burnt for.... Probably since before i got it in December. I have new hoses, 180 deg thermostat, new waterpump, and thanks to the above comment, a new fan clutch on its way, all to put in this weekend. I'm hoping that should help a bit. Only thing left is the rad and will do it asap.

Nah, like pmac says,if everthing is working right they never get hot.Ive towed a campervan in 47 deg heat into a headwind with 33" tyres & not re-geared & it never got hot even storming up hills.

So what should normal running temp be? 90, 95?

OK I'm just about to do a run to QLD and some beach driving.

Please make it as simple as possible the gear I need, my WJ often hits the 105-110 mark in traffic, worried about it on the sand.

Mine NEVER moved except when it was clogged with mud. I thought it was clean but when I replaced the radiator noticed how blocked it was. That's even in soft sand on a hot day (40+)
