Default AirconHISSioner noise ZJ ZG

Hi all, I while back I got my AC regassed and it's been working a treat since except for one thing...

After I turn car off there is a hissing noise that continues for about a 30sec or so toward front of engine bay. I'm sure it's not radiator as it only happens if AC on and I'm not going through any coolant.

The mechanic who regassed it says their are no leaks and to go to AC specialist.

Is this normal? Some kind of gas pressure balancing out or something?

Also, what I assume is the condensor has lot's of condensation on it, even with engine running. Don't know if that's related or not, I was just surprised to see it.

I'm interested in this too... Just had my aircon regassed after about 5 years of it not working... Same deal, no leaks, but hisses for 30 seconds after I switch off the engine... Mines a XJ 97 update model...

Perfectly normal!
These things run a restriction orifice in the A/C instead of a TX valve, the sound is the refrigerant pressure equalizing through this after shut down.

So after getting one perfect summer out of my AC after having it regassed last November, I've now got bugger all cold air. Mechanic who regassed it is trying to tell me it's normal to lose some gas over time, but fair dinkum it was 30 odd here today and it was cooler with windows down than AC on.

Mechanic reckons there is no leaks (gas dye) that he can find and the compressor is working. He has referred me to another mechanic who wants to flush system with nitrogen to look for leaks. He reckons the dye is no good.

Just wondering if that sounds right or if he's trying to stooge me?

Also is there a common fault/leak in the ZJ AC system that I can tell him about??

Should last heaps longer than that so i would say there's a leak somewhere, my old ZG had a leak in the big long pipe and it cost a fortune to replace but then anything to do with any type of A/C does I suppose.
Always use a dedicated Air Con Shop though your standard mechanic only has the basics.
The pipes off the compressor should have one cold and one hot when running and the clutch should be engaged on the drive pulley, if not then it's broke.
