I know why he started the thread, the previous petrol engine was weak so you needed to buy the diesel to get some low down torque. But the diesel also has it's disadvantages, the manual clutch is weak, the upfront price is a ripoff, you can't get it in Rubicon trim, the motor hasn't been updated in years and there's no room under the hood for a second battery or indeed anything else. There's also precious few aftermarket parts for it because the Yanks don't have this motor.
It's a good engine but sounds and drives like a tractor. I don't blame him though for having a hard look at the Pentastar (the "commodore" engine).
