Default Anyone gone CRD to Pentastar yet?

As per topic, anyone swapped from pre 2011 CRD (pref. Auto) to Pentastar yet?

Your thoughts/desires/loathes/regrets? Did you go for a Manual or Auto or Rubicon and are you happy with this etc.

Ignore the interior and apparent build quality please. Only interested in driveability and real world economy comparisons.

hi yom. mate i don't know exactly why you started this thread, but for what it;s worth if i went again, i'd definitely go the petrol. less issues, easier to maintain, and as it's a chrysler factory bread and butter engine, parts will be easier to source. if the engine proves to be reliable, it is the way to go. cheers.

I know why he started the thread, the previous petrol engine was weak so you needed to buy the diesel to get some low down torque. But the diesel also has it's disadvantages, the manual clutch is weak, the upfront price is a ripoff, you can't get it in Rubicon trim, the motor hasn't been updated in years and there's no room under the hood for a second battery or indeed anything else. There's also precious few aftermarket parts for it because the Yanks don't have this motor.

It's a good engine but sounds and drives like a tractor. I don't blame him though for having a hard look at the Pentastar (the "commodore" engine).

That would be fun but would also send me broke, its a daily driver. Factory power is the only option.

Shame though as I am sure the CRD sitting on a pallet would be worth about the same maybe more than a 5.7L.
