You need to tell us more about your Jeep. WJ I assume? Does it have any lift at all? If so, the best thing would be to replace it with a u-joint one from a later model WJ/WG or a double cardan or double-double cardan from Iron Rock Offroad, Carolina Driveshafts or Tom Woods.

Sorry, just realised you said it was a 2003 CRD.

Still, the fact that you have said that it has a rubber boot means that it's a CV-type shaft.

If so, the main point is that if you have a lift and CV-type driveshaft there's a fair chance you will have ongoing issues.

Agreed. Went through this saga at 80k km. Swapped the shitty cv out for a remanufactured XJ double cardan and new shaft. Changed the diff and TC output yokes to spicer style as well and haven't looked back. (at 260k km now). Don't suggest you do what I did - (time and effort ) but get rid of the cv what ever you do.

Speak to Jim at mascot motors, he makes one out of XJ driveshaft to suit the WJ.
